Peace in Prayer

In every time of struggle

There is peace in quiet prayer,

For the Lord is always waiting

To uplift us from despair.

Does not matter, place or moment,

He will always hear the prayers

That call out to Him, in earnest,

For His grace of love and care,

With tender touch of mercy,

He will brush away our tears

And becalm the swelling passions

That engulf a heart in fears,

For He is the Master Healer

Of all wounds and grief's we bear

And our Comforter and Savior,

In the peace of quiet prayer.

Sunday School Promotion Day will be on August 24, 2008 at 9:30 AM. If you are going into 1st, 3rd, 6th, or high school, you will be promoted to the next class at this time. Perfect Attendance Awards will also be given out on this Sunday. We will meet in the sanctuary for all presentations at 9:30 AM following our regular classes. We hope all may attend on this special day.

Vacation Bible School

VBS “Power Lab” 2008 Vacation Bible School was a blast! We had an excellent week. We had 49 children registered with 31 teachers & helpers. We donated our offering of $104.06 to “Project Kids” that is headed up by Lavonne Dawson. They provide school supplies to children in need within our school district.

We had a wonderful group of children that learned of God’s power to help us be: thankful, helpful, brave, to have eternal life, and to tell others about God. The children were challenged each day to go home and put into action what they had learned each day.

We can spread God’s love and message,  not only with the Gospel, but by the actions and interactions we share with each other every day. Thanks to everyone who shared their time or donations this past week to make VBS so successful. 

Emmanuel’s Warehouse

I would first like to thank all those who helped this past month for their participation. We could have NOT done it without you. I know you may think it is a little premature to be mentioning our next date, but this will give you significant time to put it on your calendar. Our next food pick-up will be in Peoria on October 15, 2008 at 11:30 AM. The actual food distribution for Emmanuel’s Warehouse will be on Monday, October 27, 2008 at 5:00 PM. I know statistically only 10% of the church goers do 90% of the work … but it would be refreshing to see some new faces helping this October.

The material is in and the roofers are ready to start. They are just waiting for our monsoon season to end and to get a decent stretch of dry weather before starting the project.
